No, this isn't a posting on the hit TV series staring Juliana Margulies, that's "The Good Wife", or about the 2013 made for TV movie staring Helen Slater. This is a chance for you to post your appreciation for your mom as we head into Mother's Day weekend.
As I was driving in to work this morning, I heard a 'quist' (that's a cross between a quiz and a top-10 list) on the radio of the best "bad moms" in the movies. On the list, there were classics like Mrs. Robinson from 'The Graduate', Norma Bates, operator of the Bates Motel, from the 1960 Alfred Hicthcock thriller 'Psycho' and Kevin's (Macauly Culkin's) mom who accidently leaves him 'Home Alone' in the 1990 movie of the same name.
That quist made me think that this is a great idea for this week's community post as we head into Mother's Day. I would like to hear your comments as to why your mom is a 'good mother' and I'm prepared to start you off.
My mom is a good mom because she has always supported me in whatever I wanted to do. She was (and still is) able to walk that fine line between being educating/coaching/supporting and directing or judging. Now as an adult, I am able to look back on my youthful days and I know that I was a challenge for my mom at times, but she was helpful in guiding me in positive directions and I never felt that these were ultimatums or directives; the choice was always mine and she was there with support and love. And of course, as with most moms, when I was even moderately successful, she was there with overwhelming joy and pride. Thanks Mom!!! XOXOXO
With that, I want to thank my mom with all my heart and invite other Kamazooie members to comment on their 'good moms'.
I hope you have a great weekend and an excellent Mother's Day with your mom, or with memories of your mom.
Ahhh, good idea Amanda!!!
Fortunately, I already wrote something, now 15 years ago, and I get to repost one of my original postings on Kamazooie to address your quist.
