It is with bittersweet feelings that we watched David Letterman sign off in his last show last night. In a tribute to his long career of helping us end our day with laughter and grace, I thought I would post this Top Ten list of the Best Things That David Letterman Gave Us:

[...Drum roll...]

10.  Something to watch besides infomercials after 11:30 at night.

9.    Confidence that even without perfect teeth, people can be charming, loved and valuable members of society.

8.    Putting the Tri-State area firmly on the map of the US and the world.

7.    Somewhere to show off our stupid pets.

6.    Making top stars acknowledge that they're just people who work at there jobs like we do (they just make a lot more money doing it)

5.    Helping the US and the world believe it was okay to laugh again after 9-11.

4.    Ending our day with a humorous and relaxing wind-down so we could sleep well.

3,    A place for Regis Philbin to call home after he quit his morning show.

2.    Top Ten Lists.

1.    A late-night relationship who we could all feel we shared a personal relationship with when all others were asleep or not there to be with us.
