Knowing that we have friends all over the world on Kamazooie... I could not help myself but to discuss the snow falling outside. After many weeks of bleary brown, grey and a white hazy dust on all the vehicles (salt dust from the roads)... we finally have a beautiful white coating of snow outside. In fact, this morning my two sons and I were digging out Anu's car, and clearing the driveway. It took almost two hours to clear it all. Fortunately, we are all in good shape... otherwise it might have been even longer.
Yes these are the challenges, but at the same time it is such a nice feeling to come in after a good workout - and to share some hot-chocolate with the boys. Neatest of all was to enjoy the hot cocoa while warmly watching the snow and wind continue to howl down - giving us more opportunity to get out and shovel even more snow away.
Both boys will soon go outside and build castles, forts, tunnels, adventures and fun to remember for a lifetime. Today is a PA day for them, and the snow could not have come at a better time. They will enjoy the winter day, and cherish it as one of their favourite childhood memories. What a wonderful feeling to be part of their lives, and to take some enjoyment in all the hard work (believe me shoveling for 2 hours is invigorating... but not my most relaxing passtime). What makes it worthwhile is knowing what fun the boys will have one the huge banks of snow we are creating on the lawn.
For anyone else in this snowstorm (New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto...) find a moment of fun in it all. Careful on your drive. Take pleasure in the beautiful whiteness of this time of year, and enjoy that nip of cold on your nose - knowing that shortly you too will be inside with a warm tea/coffee/cocoa. Choose to enjoy the moment.
Having said all
that - I do wonder how the weather is in Dubai :-).
