Join me in a Social Media Experiment - Uncovering a hidden talent

The wonderful thing about social media is that it has widened and broadened the influence of the average person. Equally importantly, it has provided a virtual environment to build and retain friendships that otherwise would ultimately wither and fade away.

This newfound 'power' of networking provides all of us with an opportunity to promote causes, share inspirational words, popular music or generate a laugh that can ripple around the globe in minutes.

It is in that spirit of sharing that I ask you to join me in a social media experiment...in this case to see if together we can help the world discover a very talented Canadian musician who currently plies his trade in Dubai.

I happened by chance to meet DaNny Shirran while out for dinner one night at a local bar/restaurant where he was playing. I couldn't help but be impressed by his musicianship and the soulful quality of his voice. On my way out I extended my compliments and was surprised to discover he was born in the same city as I was...Sudbury, Ontario. Now if ever there was proof of an ever-shrinking world there it is.

Anyway, through subsequent discussions and after listening to DaNny's online material it became clear to me that this was a guy, like many in this tough business, who had the talent and the work ethic but needed a break to get to the next level. Understanding I am not a record mogul, and don't have any industry connections,  I decided, in the interest of karma and helping out a fellow Northern Canadian/Dubai resident, to promote Danny's song "Blame" via my social network.

It is an absolutely awesome tune that would be a hit if it got airplay. Of this I have no doubt.

Like most of you reading this on Kamazooie (a new social networking site) I have a network of about 300-400 friends and family. I also know a few influential bloggers who have networks of their own.  And many of you likely do as well. So I figured if I can get 100 people in my network to get 100 people in their networks to view "Blame" on youtube, together we could get the views to over 10,000...maybe even higher with a knock on effect. That might be enough volume to get the attention of a record label.

As I write this, there are 545 views of this song on youtube.  Together let's see if we can push this up to 10,000. Here is the link...enjoy the song and please share this Kamazooie link and/or the youtube link with your friends, family and acquaintances. Thanks in advance for testing the power of your network and helping a talented musician get one step closer to his dream!
