Tomorrow night in Dubai, my youngest daughter Sierra...my peaches and plums...will graduate with an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Dubai International Academy. Like her elder sister Bianca (aka Bumble Bee) she has been entirely educated in an international school system. I remember her first day of school at the village 'kindergarten' in Schlossborn (near Frankfurt) Germany. Thirteen years and three schools later (Frankfurt International School, La Châtaigneraie Geneva International School and DIA) she is emerging with knowledge and experience garnered from some of the best secondary schools in the world.
After over 13 years as an expat, the thing I am most grateful for is the fact that my girls have experienced an international lifestyle which I firmly believe has given them a different perspective, promoted cultural awareness and tolerance, and opened up their horizons to consider living and working abroad themselves in the future. Bianca is a shining example of that as she now works as an account executive for TOH PR a public relations firm based in Dubai.
Anyway this is a very short blog to capture this moment for posterity, to say congratulations to Sierra and wish her all the best in the next phase of her academic career at York University in Toronto where she will double major in psychology and performing arts. I am looking forward to tomorrow nights ceremony!
Congrats honey, I love you and I am extremely proud of you!
Dad
Hi Lorne and Congratulations Sierra!!! Very proud of you. Relating to your dad's comments on your worldly experience, I recently heard a study reported on the radio that school field trips improved classroom writing performance 900%. If that is what a field trip can do, I cant wait to read your screenplays or see your first Broadway performance my dear.
Love and Pride, Uncle Brain
