2. Transportation – Automotive:

The first recorded use of stainless steel in the automotive industry was in 1930, byFord. The use of stainless steel in the daily vehicles has only increased since then.

Stainless steel rods are favoured for making exhaust systems, grills, and trims. However, keeping the new emission reduction standards into consideration, stainless steel is used for building structural components too.

Stainless steel is used for building ship containers and road tankers. It is the choice material for transporting food products, liquids and chemicals because of its lack of reactivity to almost all chemicals. Its corrosion resistant properties also cut maintenance and cleaning costs.

3. Medical:

The property of corrosion resistance makes it ideal for places where hygiene is the main concern. Stainless steel equipment is widely used in medical procedures because these can be easily sterilised.

They find their use not only as surgical instruments but also for surgical implants and replacement surgeries.

4. Food – Catering:

Kitchen accessories like cutlery and cookware are made of stainless steel. Knives, spatulas, handles too are made of less ductile stainless steel. Varieties of steel which are more ductile are used for making cookers, grills, sinks, saucepans etc.

Food storage is preferred in stainless steel containers or jars with stainless steel lids. This is because of the property of non-corrosiveness. Stainless steel is durable too, making it easier to be cleaned without the risk of erosion.

Bars, rods, pipes etc. made from stainless steel have found their use in large industries as well as our households. It is safe to conclude that it has become a true asset to every industry which plans for clean, green and sustainable growth in the future.
